Over time, skin loses its firmness and elasticity. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles in which it is injected. Once relaxed, this reduction in muscle motion in the affected area relieves stress on the overlying skin. The area looks much younger and smoother – wrinkles are eliminated or dramatically reduced. Dysport® is just another formulation of botox and it’s effects, risks, and outcomes are identical to BOTOX®.
BOTOX® or Dysport® injections are a simple procedure and use a very small, fine needle and takes only a few minutes to complete. Full results from the treatment will be seen in 3-7 days. After treatment you may immediately resume normal activities. Results normally last up to four months, but may vary.
What is BOTOX® Cosmetic ?
Botox is the first and only FDA-approved cosmetic solution to temporarily remove moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet.
How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?
By targeting the injection of Botox Cosmetic into the underlying muscles that cause frown lines and crow’s feet, Botox blocks the release of a substance called acetylcholine. This process can temporarily reduce the muscle activity creating the appearance of wrinkles.
Is BOTOX® going to make me look fake?
As a result of years of experience, Botox treatment by Dr. Clemens is targeted in just the right areas based on your facial structure. Your facial muscles will still maintain their ability to contract and illustrate your normal expressions in the untreated areas, while the muscles in the areas carefully selected for treatment will be relaxed enough to bring out a smooth, youthful appearance.
How long do I have to wait to see results?
A simple BOTOX® cosmetic procedure can be performed in just a few minutes. Patients tend to begin to see results within 3 to 4 days, with the maximum effect visible 10 days after treatment. Results may vary from patient to patient.
Will it hurt?
Most patients only find it to feel like a pinch, however a numbing cream is available before your treatment if preferred.
Where is Botox® Cosmetic Used?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is most commonly used for alleviating brow furrows, deep forehead creases and wrinkles in the corner of the eyes (crow’s feet). Other areas of application include muscle banding in the neck and small wrinkles around the mouth.
Recovering from BOTOX® Cosmetic
There is no recovery time from BOTOX® cosmetic. Bruising is rare, and when it does occur is temporary and usually minor. Most patients elect to return to work on the same day as treatment. You can come in and have the procedure done during your lunch hour.
